Out and About

Foster Island - Washington Arboretum

We had quite the wind last night and this morning. We have a metal roof and the pine cones and branches that hit the roof made thunderous sounds. We decided we would brave the weather and head to the Washington Arboretum. We had to cross the 520 bridge -- which floats on Lake Washington -- and the waves were crashing over the bridge. Later we learned that the bridgehad down after we crossed.

There was a lull in the weather and we had a nice walk through the arboretum with our friends. There were only a few runners out and we felt like we had the park to ourselves.

We walked on out to Marsh and Foster islands and saw that a few brave sailors had taken their boats out on Lake Washington. Both a catamaran and a sailboat were tipped over and . Hopefully, the sailors were wearing wetsuits as it was quite chilly. We watched the sailors tip their boats back over and sail on.

We saw an egret, who must have been used to having its picture taken as it let me take several shots but the shot I liked best was when he had enough of my intrusion and he flew off.
