Crazy

When we woke up this morning it was raining which meant that our day didn’t go as we would have liked. We took the Metro to Notre Dame and then as planned we walked to the Musee D’Orsay. From then on our plans went to pieces a bit. When we got there it was still raining heavily and the queue to get in was about an hour long. We found a cafe and went inside to get dry and consider our options. Neither of us wanted to stand in the rain for an hour so we decided to get back on the Metro and go to the Centre Georges Pompidou in the hope that we wouldn’t find such a long queue. When we arrived there was no queue, just a few people milling around the entrance. As we approached the door we noticed people walking away with disappointed faces. The Centre is closed on Tuesdays!!! A couple of American girls asked if we knew whether the Musee D’Orsay was open as they’d already been to the Louvre and found that closed too. We told them it was and they set off to brave the hour long queue. Another cafe was needed but being Paris it wasn’t hard to find one. After a nice cup of tea the rain had begun to ease off a bit and we went for a wander around the Pompidou Centre and along some lovely French streets looking at interesting shops.

Although we didn’t quite have the day we planned it was still nice to get the feel of the city and it’s still amazing to be able to get there in such a short time. It makes Paris seem so close so we will be back!!

We found these crazy sculptures outside the Pompidou Centre.
