A Catalan Village

By CatalanVillage

Cal Comte

The largest house in the village and once the most important, it belonged to the 'Count' who owned most of the land hereabouts.

I don't know what happened and haven't been able to find out so far, but most, if not all of the land has been sold off to locals and the house has been empty for quite a few years. I believe it was sold a few years ago, we think to an Englishman, but then repossessed by the bank and put up for sale.

Recently, within the last few weeks, work has begun both inside and outside and there are rumours about it being turned into flats. We will see.

The tiled image above the door is of Sant Antoni de Padua and I've posted a better photo of it on my jamjar journal.
