Cargadero de la Orconera o Puente de Los Ingleses

Orconera´s loading bay or the Bridge of English
Orconera´s loading bay or the Bridge of English
This loading bay today has become a symbol of El Astillero and has remained as a vestige of a time when mining was of great importance to this county in terms of economic and demographic development.
The bridge of English is an iron structure consisting of some pillars supporting a bridge that ends in a system of loading and unloading.
Its utility was loading the iron that was mined at mines Obregon after being washed into the estuary Solía. It was designed by the industrial engineer Joseph MacLennan in the second half of the nineteenth century and originally measured 67 meters long and 8 high. Years later, in 1896, became the property of the company Orconera Iron Ore and ran until 1960
