bonfire night

The rain stayed off and there was a great atmosphere at the Lions bonfire at Weaponness coachpark and on the south beach, where numerous bonfires were lit and thousands of pounds worth of fireworks let off. I love fireworks but it amazes me that we still allow people to let them off in public places. We saw lots of rockets veer off their intended trajectory to zoom at low level across the beach and I wouldn't be surprised if someone was hit by one. By the end of the evening, with the embers still glowing, the beach was full of firework debris. But by the morning, the high tide had cleared away all signs of the previous night's activity.
