Lone Cygnet

It was quite a wet afternoon so curtailed my intended walk to a short trip by swans water. I spotted this bird in a field next to the fishery and at first thought it was a goose. On closer inspection however it was one of this year's brood of cygnets, its white plumage just beginning to appear. There was no sign of the parents or indeed of the other cygnets and I wondered what it was doing on its own quite far from the water. It didn't seem too bothered at my presence either
