nine and a half weeks...

... and no, nothing to do with Mickey Rourke, Kim Basinger and a hat left on.

Today a parcel containing a Myanmar (Burma) guide book and huge folding map of Yangon's (Rangoon's) historical walks arrived on the doorstep.
This jolted the realisation that now, within the three months of leaving Aus, I have to apply for a tourist visa to the Myanmar Embassy..sadly involving the dreaded passport photo. Hopefully they will let in someone who looks like a crim!

The Myanmar Heritage Trust map is gorgeous ( I am a sucker for a large, flapping and difficult to refold map) with three detailed walks. As the notes say the map compilers have chosen to 'work backwards' from the present to the past and there is a lot to see and learn about.
I plan to have a few days in Yangon after 600 miles on a slow boat on the Irrawaddy River and with Christmas and the New Year to come, nine and a half weeks will be here in a flash!
