Volcanic Rocks, Lyttelton Harbour

Colour Challenge: Peach

Lyttelton Harbour (Māori: Te Whaka-raupo) is one of two major inlets in Banks Peninsula, on the coast of Canterbury, New Zealand. Approximately 15 km in length from its mouth to Teddington, the harbour was formed from a series of ancient volcanic eruptions that created a caldera, the steep sides of which form the Port Hills on its northern shore.
With a heritage like that, is it any wonder that we've had earthquakes!

J'Amazen and I walked from Governors Bay towards Teddington and back today, enjoying the fascinating scenery. The rocks in this image are the result of the volcanic activity described in the Wikipedia information above. I love the way the colour deepens from peach to deep ochre. Looks more impressive Large
