New England Quarter, Brighton

Working late last night, and I took this looking from the office building back into the centre of Brighton, towards the sea - not that you'd know it.

When Grayson Perry, in his recent Reith Lecture, described the final death spiral of gentrification as wood on the outside of the flats it was this development that came to mind.

In the distant background the solidity of St Peter's Church reminds us of the Brighton we sometimes forget - Victorian, sober, godly and improving.
