Receive the Light

The man with his arms outstretched is the Oblation, the iconic symbol of the University of the Philippines. Oblation comes from the Latin word oblatio, from offerre, oblatum, to offer. It symbolizes the selfless offering of one's self to his country. This photo was taken at the Unviersity of the Philippines Visayas, Miag ao Campus. Beside it is the national flag of the Philippines.
