Thanksgiving, Canadian style

We were invited to our lovely friends, C and G's for Thanksgiving today. Finding a bird grand enough to fit the bill involved G asking the butcher to ask a friend to ask a farmer to find him the biggest turkey ever seen in the South of France where normally they grow to the size of a not very big chicken. We were fascinated to see what made Canadian Thanksgiving different from the American version. Apart from the fact that it was just a whole lot nicer it seems to involve this rather strange tradition of carving up the carver and serving him as a side dish along with the cranberries, garlicy potatoes and some delicious vino.
We had a fabulous time and I am growing to love the land of the maple leaf.
