A year ago today

Today is a bit of a sad day in our house. A year ago today we had our beautiful ginger cat lynnie put to sleep. She had a tumor in her jaw and there was absolutely nothing that could be done to save her. She was about 19 years old so had done incredibly well. Laurie and I got her, and also her brother, when we first moved in together so had had for 11 years.
Its also a happy day though because the sae day that we had Lynnie put down I met Pumpkin. I went to the RSPCA before collecting the kids from school to see if they had any suitable cats for us. Pumpkin had been found abandoned as a kitten and had been living in a foster home with dogs before there was space for him at the RSPCA. I fell in love with him straight away but had to take the whole family down there the next day before they would reserve him officially for us. We had to wait until the following week for our home check and to collect him and it felt like an eternity. Now he's as big a part of our lives as Lynnie was and this is one of his favourite places to sleep! If you look closely at the carpet you can see some of the holes he's made in the stairs carpet! We dont care though as a home is just a house without pets. The house felt empty without lynnie and pumpkin filled it up again for us. It was the same with Harry and Louie so we know only too well that life is too dull without pets.
