I spotted this tiny (about 15cm) blue tongue lizard sunning itself in the garden today. At that size it must be reasonably newborn (they are born live, not from eggs). The mother has nothing more to do with them once they are born, leaving her litter to fend for themselves.

Blue tongues are very slow, for lizards, and really easy to catch. Cats are their worst enemy – another good reason to keep Isis inside. And snail bait is their second worst enemy – snails being their favourite food.

And I notice that a year ago today I got my new camera… shame I can't use it right now… still with Olympus… waiting impatiently...
