Queen's Park, Aylesbury

Today's picture shows part of the old Queen's Park School which is now Queen's Park Art Centre. Not sure how old this building but have a feeling that it is late Victorian. Certainly the terraced houses in the surrounding streets range from being late Victorian / Edwardian / possibly just post war, plus a few from more recent days. I think that the school was in use in the 70s but became the Arts Centre we know today in the early 80s. Since then flats have been built on the old school playing field, though largely the school buildings themselves remain little changed on the outside at least.

The area itself has its roots in the Iron age & Roman periods as various finds have been discovered in the vicinity, including some artefacts of Saxon origin...am I boring you ...sorry??

Actually that is probably all I know of this area. I think I remember Dave (opposite) saying that he went to Queen's Park school.

The weather today is very wet & 'orrible again. It is mild however.

Mum won't be pleased as she has her Bazaar today in aid of Edgcott church funds. Wet weather tends to make people stay at home.

C is under the weather - I think she is just totally exhausted from everything we have had to deal with over the past few months. I will molly coddle her a bit today & hope she feels better soon....

Incidentally it is a buddleia that is growing out of the side of the chimney stack...
