Optimistic Moments

Dead Sea Day

As you can see this isn’t a photo of the dead sea. I didn’t want to risk taking my camera with me and leaving it on the side while we were floating.

We left Masada and headed to the Ein Gedi Spa for the day where we relaxed in the salty waters of the dead sea and of the sulphur pools which the spa had to offer. We did the ritual of covering ourselves with mud and left to Neot Hakikar which is right at the end of the dead sea. Only one bus per day goes into the moshav (neighbourhood) so we didn’t want to miss it!

The reason for coming here was due to this hostel which had so many good reviews, Shkedi’s Camplodge. The place was incredible, the kind of place you could spend hours in doing nothing and for once you feel like there’s no stress in your life. Just a ridiculously chilled atmosphere with the owner giving us tea and cake on arrival, a campfire in the evening, good company, music playing...It really had everything. Only one thing was a problem which proved to be quite a bit of a problem. Mosquitoes, and plenty of them. We pretty much got bitten alive, so much so we were unable to stay even 24h here and left in the morning to go onwards to Eilat.
