North across the Bay of Skail

I got the little bus up to the Loch of Skail and walked along the roadside shore, stopping to see what birds were there. Plenty of ducks; wigeon, goldeneye, tufted, and pochard. Also two Slavonian grebes and three whooper swans. I dropped in to say hello at Skara Brae, then along the shore and up the cliffs at Hole O' Row, where I stopped to make coffee out of the wind (which is quite a clever trick), then up to Yettna Geo. There was a single snow bunting there- usually they are in flocks of twenty or so at this time of year. It had probably just arrived from Norway or Iceland. Maybe even Greenland. More shots here.
