Malting

A fine wee day with a slightly early start so that we could tramp over the Forth Road Bridge with the weans for their after-school club sponsored walk. A bit parky and a bit wet on the way back but it blew the cobwebs off.

Home and all sat down to watch Oliver! on DVD after Ewan had been reading a condensed version of the book for school. But the weans drifted off to play Lego and I drifted off to sleep leaving Mandy watching it herself. When I woke up I drifted off to the brew shed. Hadn't really been planning to make more but since I now had gallons of hot water sitting at 70C after spending the night in a pot on top of the Aga wrapped in a bag made with a double thickness of an old duvet, it seemed a shame to waste it. So, 5 gallons of Caley 80/- ready to start fermenting tomorrow. The house is full of that familiar Edinburgh smell.
