Welsh National Mining Memorial

On 14th October, 1913 440 men and boys were killed in the worst mining disaster the UK has known at the Universal Colliery in Senghenydd. Among the victims was my great-grandfather. My grandfather was a survivor. This photo was taken at the service to mark the centenary and shows the statue chosen by public vote to commemorate the disaster.
