Kittiwakes Off the Stern

BackBlipping our Adventures on the Voyage of the Vikings...Day 14

At Sea in the North Atlantic Ocean headed to Bergen, Norway. These three Kittiwakes were playing tag off the ship's stern. Two of them, by the small amount of white on their wingtips... are most likely Immatures. Adult Kittiwakes sport solid black tipped wings.

Kittiwakes spend their Winters at sea and Summers in Cliffs raising their young. Their chicks are hard wired to Stay In The Nest...no matter what. Now you know as much as I about Kittiwakes. I love their Name!
