Autumn at Quarry Bank...

A lovely autumnal day today perfect for a country walk. Managed by the National Trust, Quarry Bank Mill near Manchester Airport is one of the best preserved textile mills of the Industrial Revolution. It is designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building. Built by Samuel Greg in 1784 it became the largest cotton spinning business in the United Kingdom. Today the mill is a museum with extensive gardens.
