Tales from the Old Mills

By Oldmills

GAA Pride.

This, I have to admit, is a throwaway shot, a small parade, in a small town, a gang of lads off to The Field for a day of mini-matches and craic. The GAA President will be there, elevating this parochial praise-fest into something extraordinary, areason to hang bunting and flags and let the Pipe Band out of their box.
More importantly, I want to send this link to some pox-ridden corner of Asia, where the father of one of these uniformed chaps has retreated, for reasons domestic, and ultimately unknowable. I truly hope that a glimpse of his youngest son and heir (Son et Lumiere?), will bring a little bit of happiness and home to him.
