Hanging Out!

I caught this Lady Bug Beetle hanging out on this thorny seedpod today. Basking in the sun, seemingly. After a bit of research on the plant, I found a species that includes a bunch of sub-species that are used for medicinal purposes. Some, quite poisonous. Does anyone know the actual name of this plant? It looks a lot like the seedpods for Datura stramonium. Commonly named Jimson weed.

Any help?
