A Walk at Tyninghame

His Lordship and I had a lucky escape from the clutches of Santa Claus and his retinue of helpers this morning, who unbeknownst to us, were making a stylish entry to the Land of Flowers, to the obvious delight of what seemed most of the south side of Edinburgh.
We who had envisaged an early quiet coffee there before going down the coast to walk at Tyninghame, made the quickest entry and departure ever seen from that car park.

Instead, the Gosford Cafe had our custom before we headed for Tyninghame and a magical walk in sunshine round the headland.
The incoming tide crashed into the deep clefts between the rocks, sucking back with a loud musical rattle of pebbles. It was mesmerising to stand and watch the power of the waves and try and catch the spume of that seventh wave which would be my blip of the day, but I didn't quite manage it.

We walked back to the car on a path thick with beech leaves and russet ferns, through trees with the last remnants of foliage glowing as though on fire, but then drove back to a grey dreich rainy Edinburgh to watch South Africa trouncing Scotland at Murrayfield.

What a change in our 'feel good' spirits from this morning.
