Happy Halloween!

Love this shot of Ellen and Diana's pumpkins - Ellen's looks so happy! And maybe slightly drunk... "Oh no, my pumpkin has Scouse brows!"

It was a great Halloween spent carving our pumpkins and using pretty much everything from them - there is nothing that should be thrown out when carving a pumpkin. We fried the seeds with cinnamon/sugar/salt/chilli etc. for a kitchen snack, baked a batch of pumpkin cupcakes and a huge pumpkin pie, and used the chunks of flesh for a pumpkin risotto and the stringy flesh for a soup. Those pumpkins pretty much fed our kitchen for a whole week! And, despite this, I'm still not sick of pumpkin. In fact, quite the opposite. The 'monster' pumpkins in Sainsbury's on sale for 10p post-Halloween are looking mighty tempting. Maybe next year.
