Study in bronze

Embellished with bronze,
Contorted branches reach out,
Like a father's arms.

Despite the grey skies this morning, the bronze leaves and ferns were shining out. I don't know how old this Oak tree is, but it's girth is huge and it's bark looks like it's riven from stone*. It was clearly on this earth long before any of us and will hopefully be there long after we've gone.

*note to self - photograph the bark

PS. My Dad taught me that you can always identify an English Oak by its wiggly branches ....
