to desire emptiness

"If you desire emptiness this desire will fill up the emptiness. Just allow emptiness to spontaneously happen." -Lao Tzu

i am a bit disappointed that nobody has ever heard of the film "alchemy" with Rya Kihlstedt. i discovered it at SXSW film fest back in like, 1997? something to that effect. long time ago when i did things like, go to film and art festivals.

anyway... i own the film on VHS. not even sure where it is at the moment. but i wanted so badly to show a you tube clip- and i can't even find a picture for the film, much less a clip. how droll!

this partial review from 1997 is all i could find:

ALCHEMY Directed by Suzanne Myers

"So much of real life is a disappointment," Joyce Carol Oates once said. "That's why we have art."

Louisa, the young sculptor at the heart of Suzanne Myers's haunting "Alchemy," makes art from found objects, the bits and pieces others discard -- a pair of glasses, a figurine, the fragments of a shattered tea cup. A friend says of Louisa's art, "They're like broken treasures, like all of your favorite memories in pieces."

this is all i know how to say about this movie...
