Chop chop

The stall holder brandishes her cleaver. Roast duck, braised duck, roast chicken, roast pork belly, char siew, braised trotters, braised tofu (2 types!), boiled eggs … you are spoilt for choice.

We are a nation obsessed with food and with eating. Our traditional greeting is "jiak pa buay" in Hokkien, or "sudah makan" in Malay, which both translate to "have you eaten". This is just one stall in a hawker centre of about 80 stalls. As I said before, spoilt for choice!
