Kookaburra sits

It's going to be 30C and stormy this afternoon so I went for an early stroll along the avenue I live on in Maleny - dawn came at 04.49; strange, having become used to the dark mornings in England.

There were parrots and Ibis around at the end of the avenue though they were camera shy today. Looking up, there were a couple of Kookaburras peering down at me. Their plumage is beautiful and they seems such contented birds.

There are four known species; this is eastern Australia's native Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae).
