Stem ?

I'm not sure what the English word for stem (Dutch = steeltje). But this blip shows the remainder of the stem of a mandarin.
It remains beautiful to see how close you can approach an object and see so many details that you can hardly see with the naked eye.
Did you known what this was if I didn't gave the solution?
