Trip #1

First trip away in the van.

There was a delay in getting it thanks to DVLA offices being closed down across the land now and we were determined to get away for a couple of nights to try everything out.

Initially I proposed Invercoe by Loch Leven but the weather forecast was plummeting temperatures during the night so we decided to carry out a cross border raid into Northumberland where the climate should have been a bit easier going.

Should have been.

We arrived about 3.30pm yesterday just as darkness was falling and a storm brewed.

So there I was out in the dark soaking hooking up the 'leccy and filling up with water on our "Super Pitch" at South Meadows, Belford.

Eventually a couple of hours later all was well and we had heating and even gas (after having to go back out and switch the bottle on) and we were able to eat and get warm.

What a night though. It has lashed bullets of rain for 24 hours solid with 90km/h gusts of wind bouncing the van about like a space hopper.

It's all new to us though and been great with the laptop for movies and my Makita digital site radio for 6music to accompany us.

Had a strange dream we were in a motorhome in a tornado last night, woke up and realised...
