Members are not allowed to tweet from, or photograph in, the Parliament Chamber whilst we are sitting.

But this morning the chamber was being used for the annual Business in the Parliament Conference so the rule was not in force, even though the Presiding Officer was in the chair.

An ideal - and permitted - opportunity therefore to show blippers the view from my usual place on the front bench whilst Ross McEwan, the new CEO of RBS , gave a thoughtful and interesting contribution, one of his first public speeches since taking over the role on 1st October this year.

The two unusual things in this picture, by the way, are the lectern on the floor of the Parliament which is not a normal fixture ( as members speak from their seats) and the fact the Mace is in its box and not raised above it , which is the position when the Parliament is in session.

The screen is also an addition for the conference though it fits pretty well.
