Crocus cartwrightianus

One of the nicer variations from this member of the Saffron group of crocuses. It is believed that this species is the plant from which Crocus sativus, the cultivated Saffron Crocus, is derived.

A cheerful close to autumn, caught in the mid-day sunshine before I turned my mind to the gruesome task of moving Amy's bed .... which meant clearing her room first. I discovered some antique dust in the process and a few other things best forgotten :-)
