A Different Workstation

Once the early cloud dissipated we had a lovely warm day here in Marlborough. I had a busy morning going to the Artisans’ Market … a fairly new feature in the town centre, and then visiting friends. Consequently it was hot and sunny when the dogs and I set out for our walk. They cooled off by running in and out of the river. As a consequence of the recent warm dry weather and little rain the water levels in the river are falling fast.
My dogs were not the only creatures choosing to cool off in the river. Immediately above the Meadowbank Bridge and crossing stones I came across this young woman sitting on a rock in the middle of the river. She was obviously doing a bit of sunbathing but also had a folder and numerous papers on her lap. She told me she works for one of the big vineyard contractors and was busy catching up on some paperwork. Her dog Higgins was keeping her company. What a great life! It certainly beats sitting at a desk indoors on such a lovely day.
