Blue Devil

I am a lucky girl.

Back home, and in some ways back down to earth. But all it takes is a short stroll in "our" park, and I'm in heaven again.

Today's find is stupendous.

Every gardener knows of eryngium species (think of "Miss Wilmot's Ghost"). But what you may not realise is that there is a quite rare, and little known native Australian species of said plant, growing roughly on our door step.

Known colloquially as the Blue Devil (it's pretty spiky) this particular specimen is guarded by a little fence. I was chatting to a knowledgeable friend and she told me that there used to be another plant growing in a certain place, but it hasn't been seen for a while. So maybe this is the only one in the Park.

You have to admit it really is beautiful and you simply have to look at it in large to appreciate the full colour and beauty. Not that I'm trying to coerce you or anything. You don't have to look in large if you don't want to. But you'd regret it.

There's very little info about this on the Internet (actually for "very little" read "none").
