Megascops Choliba

This little fellow is a tropical screech owl who would normally be resident in South America. He was quite content to be handled and photographed by the many people who were going to the Christmas Fair in Queen's Park Baptist Church this morning. A father and son who have a collection of owls had brought some of them along for the crowds to see. Wearing a protective leather glove the children were allowed to hold this tiny owl. I thought it looked very small when compared to the very large eagle owl but I was told that there are even smaller owls with the Pygmy owl being one of the smallest.
