Arrival in Sydney

Arrived in Sydney about 6.30 am in the morning from Singapore – had a terrible journey in terms of trying to sleep. Was shattered but finally made it to the hotel for about 9 am. Check-in was 12 and they kindly let us shower and change before we headed out to look round. I hadn’t been here for a few years but the layout came flooding back. Strolled over to the opera house and then to the Modern Art Gallery to see the new Yoko Ono exhibition which was fabulous and thought provoking, Apparently it opened last week and she had been there all week chatting to visitors (damn!) – one of the exhibits consisted of a telephone in a glass maze – Yoko will phone once a day at an unknown time from wherever she is in the world and the lucky person in the maze gets to speak to her in person – cool!

After finally checking in I had to get an hr of sleep while N went off to the university. I spent the afternoon working on writing Monday’s talk. We just about managed to eat an evening meal through barely opened eyes – I hate long distance travel. Then back to the hotel to sleep – channels in Sydney sport, sport, sport, they even make bowls seem exciting!
