Arctic Cathedral

Before we set off this morning, at maximum daylight, I took this shot of the Arctic Cathedral from across the channel.

Tromso is on an island and this beautiful structure is on the mainland.

Last night we did another local walk. A great experience but no chance of seeing the Northern Lights. It was snowing, cloudy and blizzards. After the walk I relaxed in the hot tub on the roof, watching the moon drift into sight from behind clouds.

Another wonderful day. The cable car was closed for safety reasons - far too many crosswinds and snow. So we went to the seal show and Svalbard and Northern Lights movies at one of the museums. Later we went to the Polar museum and crossed the bridge to the mainland. Tricky walking at times as blizzards came and went.

The Arctic Cathedral is stunning. Well worth the walk to see it up close.

A bit of a rest and we're off dog-sledding and for a Sami meal. The Aurora? Unlikely. But you never know.
