War Medals

One of our grandchildren is learning about the First World War, so we dug out some family memorabilia for her.
I thought this would make a blip for today.
On the left is the British War Medal, on the right the Victory Medal these medals were awarded to my wife's uncle.
He served in the King's ( Liverpool ) Regiment on the Somme where he was promoted on the field for distinguished conduct. He was injured but continued after his recovery till the end of the war. His father-in-law also served in the same regiment and he too survived. They, like many others, seldom spoke of their experiences.
