The Speed of Light

Keep the fire burning

I took The Wee Man for a stroll along part of The West Highland Way. We stopped for a well earned rest at the site of The Craigallian Fire where we admired the new memorial to this important site, and to the people who helped to make Scotland's hills and glens free for everyone to enjoy.

The inscription on the memorial reads :
"Here burned the Craigallian Fire. During the depression of the 1930s, it was a beacon of companionship and hope for young unemployed people who came from Glasgow and Clydebank seeking adventure in Scotland's wild places. Their pioneering spirit helped to make the Scottish countryside free for all to roam."

So if you like a walk in the woods, a hike up the mountains, a swim in the lochs or a picnic in the countryside of Scotland, then this place is worthy of your pilgrimage.
