I popped into the Cathedral whilst shopping in Winchester this morning and managed to have a free guided tour of the Norman crypt. It is the least altered part of the building and this mysterious life-sized statue of a man contemplating the water in his cupped hands is by Antony Gormley. It is made of lead and is full of water. The crypt floods in the rainy months and the statue is often up to it's knees in water. Another blip, maybe?
