We made it to León.

OK, i know, we are supposed to be slumming it, sleeping in hostels in a room with 30 other people. Our life has become focussed on the important things in life - food, water and a bed for the night. Toilet paper is a precious commodity - never be without any in your pocket - you can guarantee that when you need some the albergue or bar has run out! At some albergues the ratio of toilets per person is 30 to 1.

We figured it was time for a bath. We really really wanted to stay in the Parador at León and Sarah had checked the internet every day waiting for a good deal. At last it came up. €90 between us for a room at Parador San Marcos. 5* luxury!

Our room was fab. It had a bath! And a balcony overlooking formal gardens and trees. The hotel is the most fantastic i have ever been in. We wandered around not quite believing it. The blip today is a terraced area for guests.
