Moss capsules

Frequently on hands and knees this morning trying to identify mosses and liverworts. I love seeing the long stalks (seta) with strangely shaped capsules, but in fact the leaf shapes and arrangement tend to be more important for identification. I'm fairly sure this is Tufted Thread-moss, Bryum caespiticium, a common species in lowland Britain. Will I get to grips with these lower plants? Well, in Britain there are nearly 300 species of liverworts and at least 763 species of moss, including 50 in the genus Bryum! Can I spare the time?!
