Preparing the Pistes for the Ski Season

Can you see those plumes of snow like smoke on the horizon and in the clearing? This is man made snow which many ski areas now stock on their pistes when the temperatures are low as Europe can no longer rely on metres of snow in the warmer winters generally. The environmentalists tried to prevent this but economics always wins through in the end! A short walk on the Col de la Croix road was a reminder of how cold it is going to get in the next couple of months. The sun was out but it was minus 10 degrees, brrr...
