Lest We Forget

73 years later.

Remembering seven soldiers at Whitley Common
On Monday, 18 October 2010, a memorial service was held to remember seven soldiers who died while trying to diffuse a bomb 70 years ago to the day.
In WWII a team of seven young bomb disposal soldiers drove an unexploded bomb from the city centre of Coventry to the less populated Whitely Common.
They had safely transported it from the city, but as they attempted to unload it from the vehicle, the bomb exploded.
The men were remembered at a service near a memorial plaque on the common.
