Thankful

Here in America, today is Thanksgiving Day -- a day to give thanks for all the many, many blessings in our lives, and to hopefully spend it with people you care about and love. It's my favourite holiday, because it doesn't involve any of the awful, crass commercialism that cakes the Christmas season.

This Thanksgiving, we traveled to friends in Massachusetts. There was a home filled to the brim with lovely people! Some are dear friends, some we met for the first time today, but all were wonderful, interesting, and fun. To top it all off, there was a herd of dogs seething around, tails wagging, cold noses poking, kisses freely given. The food was phenomenal ... a real "groaning board" of a feast ... turkey with all the trimmings, potatoes, brussels sprouts, oyster pie, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, stuffing, gravy ... the list just goes on and on!

In this picture, you see Cailin -- the beautiful daughter of our dearly beloved friends and hosts, Katie and Doug. I wish I had the know-how to insert a Photo Shopped halo above her head! Here she is, cheerfully scouring dishes while the masterpiece of a turkey rests on the counter behind her prior to carving.

I am so very thankful to have such beautiful, wonderful people in my life. I am a very lucky woman.
