Orla & Conor

This is one of the videos Orla has been watching on YouTube. These one are produced under the name Stated Clearly, by a guy who describes himself as "an artist and science advocate". As a result of watching these, Orla can tell you that DNA is the building block of life. RNA is half a DNA molecule. It goes into the cell's cytoplasm and goes through a machine called a ribosome, which reads the RNA code three letters at a time and builds a brand new protein. Once the protein is built it can do a number of different jobs and maybe can build a brand new cell. DNA is a blueprint, or a recipe, for a living thing. That could be a tree, a dog or a dinosaur. DNA is a bunch of atoms stuck together into a twisted ladder. [I have typed this as she told me it, verbatim].

She also told us the other day that there is an area of the brain called the cerebellum and it stops you from falling over when you walk.
