Fire in the Frost

The red of the dogwood looked very intense against the frosty grass early this morning - so glad I planted it about three years ago!
The winter sunlight is very pale, delicate and cool at the beginning of a sunny day, but very beautiful and so welcome!
Having decided to take Russet for a walk in the fields opposite our house for a change, I rather regretted it on two counts. Firstly, we found cows in the field where I had hoped she could run, and secondly, my wellies and her feet became thickly coated in brown mud as we walked round a field of kale! Both had to go under the hose once home!
Back to the fields near the church tomorrow, I think!
