Doors Open Day : Scottish Ballet, Tramway, Glasgow

Scottish Ballet recently opened their new headquarters at the Tramway, Pollokshields, Glasgow.

A look behind the scenes today, into the studios, rehearsal rooms and where the sets are made.

My favourite part was the Costume Department. They are preparing for the Nutcracker peformances this Christmas. You can see one of the "mice" masks in the background. Also a very informative talk about ballet shoes - they cost about £34 a pair, and may only last for one performance. Each dancer has satin shoes made to their own specific requirements, all stored in a specially designed space.

Second day of Doors Open Weekend. Visited the Britannia Panopticon yesterday.
