tropical rain-forest Mata Atlantica

Brazil is privileged in having several tropical rain-forests, such as the well-known Amazon. The lesser-known coastal rain-forest "Mata Atlantica" stretches from Argentina, Uruguay up to the Northeast of Brazil along the Atlantic coast.
Unfortunately only 8,5 % is left of the original size of 1.500.000 square Kilometers.
The biggest threat is that almost 80% of the Brazilian population (190 million) lives in the same area as the Atlantic rain-forest, and mainly illegal deforestation puts a big burden on the remainder part.
Protection and preservation is therefore needed, and needs support from all of us. Please support the SOS Mata Atlantica organization in their struggle to protect and preserve the remainder of this fantastic rain-forest.
