Serpentine Lighthouse

This lighthouse, which stands about 4 inches tall, was made by my late Uncle Glenwood with serpentine extracted from the Lizard peninsular, Cornwall where he lived throughout his life. He used to make them 3-4 feet high with integral light pendants and sell them to the local gift shop, together with serpentine eggs, paperweights, barometer surrounds etc. He was immensely talented with his hands, even making his own clothes including shirts, trousers and jackets. He was also more than a little eccentric and died a pauper despite his talents. This lighthouse is a much treasured memory of him.
